PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Integral Group is internationally renowned as a “deep green,” multi-disciplinary, consulting engineering and sustainable design firm. Committed to accelerating critical change in sustainable building practices, Integral Group’s vision for their offices reflects their mission to design practical, affordable, and highly resource-efficient buildings. Located in the heart of downtown Oakland, in a 1930s Art Deco building, this project exemplifies that green buildings can be designed, constructed, and renovated without a cost premium.
The office is certified LEED Platinum, receiving 102 out of a possible 110 points, the highest LEED CI project (2009). The energy efficient design, which included Therma-Fuser Systems, resulted in a 37% overall reduction in annual energy use, compared to a typical office building, and was completed at a remarkably low cost of $25 per square foot. Reducing maintenance requirements was a key part of the design, and resulted in improved reliability and efficient system operation.
